Two Stories

It's a gorgeous spring morning in Mississippi. We're on vacation, it's beautiful outside, we're with our siblings we haven't seen for nearly a year...and of course I don't feel well. Isn't that how it goes? So the guys are off hiking and the girls and the toddler are home doing projects and lounging around.

I'm pretty sure you don't want me to be troubleshooting projects with my current sick-brain, so I thought I would share two GCT Level 5 stories we received about Pinstrosity disasters with you.

Lina says, "I am a floundering SAHM [stay at home mom], trying my best to engage with my kids more than I engage with Facebook.  On this particular day, after making a sensory tub of "rainbow rice", I was quite proud of myself.  The toddler was having fun running her fingers through the pretty colored rice and I wasn't freaking out about the mess I'd have to sweep up off the kitchen floor when she was done. I jinxed it all when I let myself think, "yeah, I've got this whole Mom thing down."  Pretty much exactly at that moment, with the wee fingers still in the rice, the cat jumped in and claimed his new litter box.  Epic."

The caption on this Pinterest pin says, "Dr. Oz White Teeth Remedy: 1/4 cup Baking Soda + Juice of Half Lemon. Squeeze lemon juice into baking soda. Note: The solution will bubble. Dip a cotton ball into the solution and apply it to teeth. Let sit for only one minute. Brush teeth as usual."  When you click on the pin though it takes you to a spam site.
Kristen says, "So I've gotten a pretty good kick out of your site. Like any self-proclaimed pinterest freak, I've had my share of failures-- I nearly burned down my house trying to make the grilled cheese sandwich in the sideways toaster, I've made my share of disasters involving mod podge, and our Lightning McQueen birthday cake ended up looking like a pile of red sludge. But there's something about me that just keeps trying, and when I saw this pin, my vanity kicked in. Whiter teeth in a minute using stuff I have on hand? Count me in. I mixed up the ingredients a couple days ago and was thrilled at my whiter smile. I even told my husband "Look how awesome this is, let's do your teeth next!" Lucky for him, he doesn't trust the internet when it comes to matters of his body :)"

"And that brings me to today, where I am preparing for my first ever root canal. The acid from the lemon juice is way too harsh on most teeth, and like many on pinterest have already found it causes your gums to hurt like heck for a couple of days. In my case, I already had a cavity and our Dr. Oz creation ate right through what was left of my enamel. Our dentist has told me in no uncertain terms that this CAN work for some people, but most will just end up doing damage to their teeth. Hope this helps save someone's smile in the process :)"

So beware the rogue cat and the diy automatic root canal...not so fun. I hope you all are enjoying the warmth  and sunshine...unless it's not sunshiny where you are then I hope you're enjoying....the clouds? I hope you're enjoying yourself and having a great day!
